See ResultsWhy most paid advertising loses money, and it is rarely the platform’s fault
Clicks feel like progress. But a paid ad is not working until it brings a lead you can call, or a sale you can count.
It is 9pm on a Tuesday. Tunde sells made-to-order furniture in Lagos. He is looking at an ads dashboard that says 3,400 clicks this month, and a WhatsApp inbox that says four enquiries, one of them asking if he sells mattresses.
His Google ads bid on the word “furniture”. Students looking for pictures, people in Kano, people searching for furniture jobs. All clicks. All paid for.
His Instagram ads were set to Engagement. 2,100 likes from an audience of everyone in Nigeria aged 18 to 65. Nobody asked for a price.
The hard part is not the money. It is not knowing what to change. Spend more? New ads? Another platform? Or accept that paid advertising does not work for furniture? So he keeps adjusting things and hoping the next campaign is different.
Then the system changed, not the budget. Google ads on “custom sofa Lagos” and “dining table price Lekki”, with the price in the ad. Meta ads showing real workshop videos to people who had visited the website, with a lead form that asked three questions. A reply within five minutes. Same budget. 41 leads. 9 orders.
Tunde is an illustration with example numbers, but we meet people like him each month in our paid advertising review. He never needed more clicks. He needed a better path from the click to the customer. Spending more is not the same as growing more.

Google ads on “furniture”. Instagram set to Engagement.
3,400 clicks. 2,100 likes. One “Do you sell mattresses?”.
Budget finished. Four enquiries. No orders.
Buying keywords only. Prices in the ad. Tracking live on the website.
Workshop videos shown to website visitors. Three ads tested, one scaled.
Every lead messaged in five minutes. Losing keywords and ads cut.
41 leads. 9 orders. Cost per order known.
An illustration with example numbers. Real results depend on your offer, your prices and how fast you follow up.
The five parts of paid advertising that works
Miss one and the other four pay for it. We build all five, on every platform we run.
An offer worth clicking
A clear promise, a price or a reason to ask, and proof. No ad platform can sell a vague “contact us for more info”.
We write it with you before any ad runsThe right platform for the buyer
Google paid search for people searching now. Meta and TikTok paid social for people who do not know you yet. LinkedIn for companies. Often two together.
Chosen from data, not habitA page that converts the click
Fast, one message, one action, WhatsApp one tap away. The ad gets the click. The page gets the lead.

Set up in your name, on day one. See analytics and trackingFollow-up in minutes
A Harvard Business Review study found firms that contacted leads within an hour were nearly 7× more likely to qualify them. Most leads wait a day.
Alerts, scripts and a 5-minute reply targetTest, cut, scale
New ads, keywords and audiences tested every week. Losers cut within days. Winners get the money. That is where the cost per lead falls.
Reported in plain numbers, weeklyPaid advertising is not a slot machine. It is a sales system, if you build all five parts.

Nobody can promise an exact cost per lead, because every platform sells ads through an auction, which is why every plan tests every week and shows you the numbers as they are. The fee structure is the same on every platform; what changes between plans is how many platforms, ads, pages and people you get.

Every platform charges you for showing your ads, through an auction. Your ad budget goes to the platform. Our fee is separate, and we never mark up your spend.
You set a daily or monthly budget inside each platform and pay it directly from your own card, so every receipt is yours. Google explains its auction here and Meta explains its billing here. No platform sets a large minimum, but a budget too small to buy enough results never learns, so we tell you honestly what paid advertising costs in your market before you start. In Nigeria, Google and Meta accounts can be billed in naira. Ad spend is paid to the platforms, separate from our fee, and we show you both every week. How we count what is in each plan
A price only means something when you know what counts. This is ours, in writing.
Our fee and your ad budget
Two separate payments. Your ad budget goes to Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube, from your own card, in your own accounts. Our fee is for the work, paid to us. We never mark up your spend and you see both every week.
The 20% rule
You pay the flat monthly fee until 20% of your total monthly ad spend, across all platforms, is bigger than it. The percentage replaces the flat fee; it is never added on top. On a ₦2,000,000$5,000£4,000€4,500 budget, Grow Every Week costs ₦400,000$1,000£800€900 that month.
The minimum ad budget
₦300,000$1,500£1,200€1,350 a month across your platforms, paid to them, and ₦3,000,000$10,000£8,000€9,000 for Own Your Market. Below this, no platform gets enough results to learn from, and you would be paying us to manage a budget that cannot win. We say so before you start.
A platform
One advertising system with its own account: Google Ads, which includes Search, Shopping, Maps and YouTube, Meta, which includes Facebook and Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn. Retargeting runs inside each one and is never counted as an extra platform.
A lead and a customer
A lead is an enquiry the platform or your form recorded: a form filled, a chat started or a call placed. A customer is a lead that paid. We report both, because 100 cheap leads nobody can reach are worse than 20 enquiries that buy, and the budget decision should follow the customer number.
A month
Thirty days from the day your first campaign goes live, not the calendar month, so a mid-month start does not cost you days. Cancel with 14 days notice. Your accounts, pixels and audiences stay yours.
Pay in naira, dollars, pounds or euros by card or bank transfer. Not sure which plan or platform fits? Use the free platform picker and break-even calculator further down, or message us and we will tell you honestly, even if the answer is the smaller one. Need paid advertising as part of a bigger plan, with SEO, a website that sells and WhatsApp to close? See our growth plans and pricing.
Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube? Where your buyer is decides.
Every paid advertising platform sells the same thing: a moment with a person. The difference is what that person is doing in the moment. Searching, scrolling, watching or working. Paid search advertising catches the first. Paid social media advertising reaches the other three. Match the ad to the moment and the cost per lead falls. Here is how we use each one.
Google ads
Paid search advertising: Search, Shopping, Maps and Performance Max.
The buyer already typed “dentist near me” or “buy generator Lagos”. Your ad answers. The highest intent and usually the highest cost per click, so every keyword must earn its place.
Meta ads: Facebook and Instagram
Paid social: Feed, Reels, Stories, Messenger and click-to-WhatsApp.
The buyer is not looking for you yet. Your ad has two seconds to stop a thumb. The widest reach in Nigeria and most of the world, the best creative testing, and often the lowest cost per lead when the offer is right. Cost per customer is the number we judge it by.
TikTok ads
TikTok paid ads: in-feed video, Spark ads and TikTok Shop.
Under-35 buyers, raw video, trends that move in days, and more than a billion people a month worldwide. Great for products that show well in 15 seconds, and for brands that want to be discovered. Weaker for considered, high-ticket services.
LinkedIn ads
LinkedIn paid advertising: Sponsored Content, lead forms and message ads.
Target more than 1.3 billion members by job title, company size and industry. Expensive clicks, but the only place to reach a procurement manager at a bank on purpose. For B2B, recruitment and high-value services.
YouTube ads
YouTube paid ads: skippable in-stream, Shorts and Demand Gen.
Run through Google Ads, so your search data works here too. Show the product, the clinic or the course in motion to people who watch what your buyers watch. Strong for trust and retargeting.
Retargeting and display
Google Display, Meta retargeting and X ads.
Most people do not buy the first time. Retargeting follows the ones who visited, watched or added to cart, with the right next message. Often among the cheapest leads in an account once enough people have visited, and the ones most agencies forget.
The honest comparison
What each paid advertising platform is for, what it costs and how fast it moves. Costs are typical ranges from our own accounts and public benchmarks, not promises.
| COMPARE | Google ads | Meta ads | TikTok ads | LinkedIn ads | YouTube ads |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The buyer is | Searching for it now | Scrolling, not looking yet | Watching for fun | Working, thinking about the company | Watching, often on TV |
| Best for | Services and products people already search for, local businesses, ecommerce | Most consumer businesses, lead generation, WhatsApp selling, retargeting | Visual consumer products, young buyers, brand discovery | B2B, corporate, high-value services, hiring | Explaining and proving, retargeting, brand trust |
| Cost per click | Highest. A $5.42 median in the US in 2026, far lower in Nigeria | Low to medium. Leads from under ₦100 in some of our Nigerian accounts, far more in others | Low. Views are cheap, buyers cost more | Highest of all. Few clicks, high value | Low per view, medium per lead |
| First results | Days. Searches already exist | 1 to 2 weeks of testing | 1 to 3 weeks, creative dependent | 2 to 4 weeks, longer sales cycles | 2 to 4 weeks |
| Sensible starting budget | ₦300,000, $1,500 or £1,200 a month | ₦300,000, $1,500 or £1,200 a month | ₦300,000, $1,500 or £1,200 a month | $2,000 or £1,600 a month | ₦300,000, $1,500 or £1,200 a month |
| Creative needed | Keywords and short text, plus a product feed for Shopping | 3 to 5 new images or videos a week | Native-looking video, several a week | Professional posts, documents and short video | Video that works with the sound off in the first 5 seconds |
| Our usual pairing | Google plus Meta retargeting | Meta plus Google search for the demand it creates | TikTok plus Meta | LinkedIn plus Google search and retargeting | YouTube plus Google search |
Our honest default: most businesses should start with two platforms, not five. Google search if people already search for what you sell, Meta for everyone else, and retargeting on both. Add TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube when the first two are paying and the data says where to go next.
Paid advertising words, explained simply
Agencies hide behind these. You should not have to learn a new language to buy ads.
Pay per click (PPC)
Pay per click advertising means you pay only when someone clicks your ad, not when it is shown. Google search ads work this way, and so do most Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when set to clicks or conversions. Pay per click marketing is the whole job of choosing where those clicks come from and what happens after.
Paid search advertising
Ads that appear when someone searches: Google paid search, Bing and the Shopping results. The buyer has told you what they want. Pay per click management here is mostly keywords, negative keywords, bids and the page they land on. Our Google ads service covers it.
Paid social media advertising
Paid social ads on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube reach people by who they are and what they do, not what they typed. Facebook paid ads, paid ads on Instagram, TikTok paid promotion and LinkedIn paid ads all live here. Creative does most of the work.
Paid traffic and paid promotion
Paid traffic is visitors you paid for, from any platform. Paid promotion is the same idea for a post, a product or an event. Traffic is only worth buying when the page after the click turns it into leads and sales, which is why we never sell traffic on its own.
Retargeting
Showing ads to people who already visited your website, watched your video or added to cart. It needs tracking set up first and enough visitors to work. Most people buy on the third or fourth touch, not the first, so this is where many accounts earn their best return.
Cost per lead, cost per customer, ROAS
Cost per lead is ad spend divided by enquiries. Cost per customer is ad spend divided by the people who paid. Return on ad spend, or ROAS, is attributed revenue divided by ad spend, not profit. We report all three, and the budget decision follows the customer number.
How Greenlearners Technologies runs paid advertising, week by week
We are a paid advertising agency that cares about two numbers: cost per lead and cost per customer. Whether you call it PPC, paid media, paid social, paid promotion or pay per click marketing, the work is the same six steps, on every platform, and you can see each one in your own accounts. A pay per click specialist, a creative lead and your account manager run them together.

Your accounts, your numbers, your competitors’ ads. Then the offer, the audience and the platform, agreed in writing.
Ad accounts, Google tag, Meta pixel, Conversions API, audiences and billing, all owned by you with us as a partner.
Keywords, creatives and copy built for each platform, plus a fast landing page or form with WhatsApp one tap away.
Campaigns go live. Lead alerts reach your phone. Your team gets the reply scripts and the 5-minute rule.
New ads, keywords and audiences tested. Losers cut within days. Budget moved to winners. Numbers in plain language.
What paid, what did not, and whether to add TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube or more budget. Decided from your data, with you.
You see everything
Every platform’s dashboard is yours to open. We add a weekly summary that a busy owner can read in one minute: spend, leads, customers, cost per customer.
You own everything
Accounts, pixels, audiences, creatives and data stay in your name. Remove our access in one click, any day. Nothing is held hostage.
You talk to people

Which platform should you start with, and what can you afford to pay? Two free tools.
No sign up. The first picks your starting platform from six questions and splits a starting budget. The second works out what you can afford to pay for a lead and a customer before you spend a naira, pound or dollar. Nothing you type is sent to us unless you choose to send it.
Six questions, one starting plan
Built from how we actually choose platforms for clients: what you sell, whether people search for it, who buys, what a sale brings, what you have ready and what each sale leaves you. A starting point, not a verdict. The free review checks it against your real numbers.
Tap an answer for each of the six questions. Your first platform, your second, a budget split and what to get ready appear here.
Send Me My Plan Opens WhatsApp with your answers filled in, so the free review starts from your real situation. What can you afford to pay for a lead?
Most paid advertising fails on this one question. Put in four numbers and see the most you can pay for a customer before you lose money, a safe cost per lead to aim for, and the budget that gets you there. An estimate, not a promise.
At a safe cost per lead of $12, 100 leads a month would cost about $1,200 and bring about 20 customers.
Check My Numbers Opens WhatsApp with your numbers filled in. We check them against real campaigns in your market, free. The picker favours Google search when people already search, Meta for most consumer businesses, TikTok for young buyers with video, LinkedIn for companies buying from companies, and YouTube when the offer needs explaining. The calculator keeps half your profit as a safety margin, because real cost per lead moves every week. See how paid ads fit the bigger plan.
Paid advertising we have run, and what it did
Paid ads are easy to promise and harder to prove. These results come from our clients’ own Ads Manager and Insights dashboards, and the full stories are in our digital marketing case studies. Most of our client work sits under NDA. These are the results we are allowed to show. A lead here means what the platform counted: a form filled, a chat started or a call placed, not a sale.
Arya Marketplace, B2B wholesale, Lagos. The Boutique and Retail Leads campaign, 9 to 13 July 2026, from ₦19,574.88 of ad spend in Meta Ads Manager. A lead is a form filled on the website, as counted by Meta.

See The Dashboards

Same account, same month, two campaigns. Master UK Leads: ₦337.22 per lead. Canada event: ₦937.95 per lead, nearly three times the cost. We switched the Canada campaign off within days and moved its budget to the winner.
That is the whole job of pay per click management, and it is why a dashboard is not a strategy. Twenty campaigns ran in that Study With FM account in 2025. Not every ad wins. Every naira, pound or dollar followed the ones that did, and the client saw the numbers that drove the decision, every week. When we review your paid advertising, this is the decision we look for first: where is the money going that should be moving?Your ad accounts, your pixels, your data: and no suspensions
Two things ruin paid advertising for small businesses: an agency that owns the accounts, and ads that break Google’s advertising policies or Meta’s Advertising Standards and get the account suspended. Our paid advertising services are built so neither happens to you.
What gets ad accounts suspended
A suspended account can take weeks to recover, and some never return. Google explains its account suspensions here and how to appeal here. We would rather say no to an ad than lose your account.
How we keep your accounts safe
Local rules apply too, from ARCON in Nigeria to the ASA in the UK and the FTC in the US. We write ads that pass them.
We set everything up in your business’s name: the Google Ads account and tag, the Meta Business portfolio and pixel, the TikTok and LinkedIn accounts, and every audience. If we ever stop working together, you keep it all, including what each platform has learned about your buyers. Whoever you hire, insist on this.
Paid advertising for your industry, not a template
Every industry buys in a different place and a different mood, so our paid advertising services start with the platform and the play that fit yours. Here is one we run for each.
Shopping ads catch people searching for the product. Advantage+ catalog ads on Meta bring back the ones who looked and did not buy. Click-to-WhatsApp for buyers who want to ask first.
Ecommerce marketingGoogle search for “land for sale in Epe”, one video tour per listing on Meta and YouTube, a three-question lead form, and WhatsApp follow-up within five minutes, at home and abroad.
Real estate marketingGoogle search and Maps ads for “near me” searches, reviews and prices in the ad, a booking page that loads fast, then Meta retargeting and reminders that cut no-shows.
Healthcare marketingReels and TikToks of the food or the room, shown to people within a few kilometres at lunch and dinner time, plus Google Maps ads for travellers already searching for where to stay.
Hospitality marketingA lead ad for a free class or webinar on Meta and TikTok, Google search for people comparing courses, then a short follow-up sequence of value, proof and deadline. The play behind 776 leads for Study With FM.
Education marketingLinkedIn ads by job title and company size, Google search for the problem they type at work, retargeting with case studies, and a form that qualifies before sales calls. The play behind 474 leads in five days for Arya.
B2B marketingWhat paid advertising cannot do, and who should not hire us
Good paid ads are powerful. They are not magic. You deserve to hear the limits before you spend a single naira, pound or dollar.
Paid advertising cannot
Ads bring the lead. The rest of the system closes it, which is why we connect paid advertising to a website that sells, a sales funnel, WhatsApp and email.
We are probably not right for you if
If you want to learn it yourself first, start with our Facebook ads course and the other marketing courses.

Paid advertising: your questions, answered
What is paid advertising?
Paid advertising is paying a platform to show your message to the people you choose, when they search, scroll, watch or work. On Google you pay when someone clicks your ad after searching, which is why it is called pay per click advertising, PPC or paid search advertising. On Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube you pay to reach people by who they are and what they do, which is paid social media advertising. Paid traffic, paid media, paid promotion and paid adverts all mean the same family of work. Done well, paid advertising brings leads and customers every day at a cost you can measure, and it can speed up growth when the offer, the numbers and the follow-up are ready for it.
Which paid advertising platform should I start with?
If people already search Google for what you sell, start with paid search advertising on Google, because that buyer is ready now. If they do not, or you sell to consumers who need to see the product first, start with Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram. Add TikTok for buyers under 35 with strong video, LinkedIn when companies buy from companies, and YouTube when the offer needs explaining. Most businesses should run two paid advertising platforms well before adding a third. The free platform picker on this page gives you a starting answer in 60 seconds.
How much does paid advertising cost?
Two costs. The ad budget goes to the platform through an auction, so there is no fixed price per lead, and we take on budgets from 300,000 naira, 1,500 dollars, 1,200 pounds or 1,350 euros a month. Our pay per click management fee is separate and fixed, and the same on every platform: Launch Right is a one-off 250,000 naira, 500 dollars, 400 pounds or 450 euros; Grow Every Week is 200,000 naira, 600 dollars, 480 pounds or 540 euros a month; Run It For Me is 450,000 naira, 1,500 dollars, 1,200 pounds or 1,350 euros a month; Own Your Market, for corporations and multi-country brands, is 1,200,000 naira, 4,000 dollars, 3,200 pounds or 3,600 euros a month with a minimum ad budget of 3,000,000 naira, 10,000 dollars, 8,000 pounds or 9,000 euros. On the monthly plans you pay the flat fee or 20% of your ad spend, whichever is greater, never both. Everything is written down before you pay anything. If paid ads are part of a bigger plan, see our growth plans and pricing.
What does a paid advertising agency actually do?
A paid advertising agency, also called a paid ads agency, a PPC agency or a paid marketing agency, runs your ad accounts for you: choosing the platforms, writing and designing the ads, building the pages and forms, setting up tracking, managing budgets and bids every day, testing every week and reporting what each naira, pound or dollar brought back. The best pay per click advertising companies also tell you when the ads are not the problem. At Greenlearners Technologies, every plan includes a named person you can message, and everything is set up in your name.
Google ads or Facebook ads: which is better?
Neither. They do different jobs. Google paid search ads catch demand that already exists: someone typing what they need right now. Facebook and Instagram paid ads create demand: showing the right person something they did not know they wanted. In many accounts Google costs more per click and converts sooner, while Meta brings a lower cost per lead and needs more creative testing, but that varies by market, offer and page. The best accounts we run use both, with Meta creating the interest and Google catching the search it causes, and retargeting on each.
How long before paid ads bring results?
Google search ads can bring enquiries in the first days, because the searches already exist. Meta and TikTok ads usually need one to two weeks of testing before the cost per lead settles. LinkedIn and YouTube take two to four weeks and longer sales cycles. The first month usually gives early evidence, and how fast you can trust the numbers depends on how many leads come in, how long your buyers take to decide and what we change along the way. The real improvement comes from weekly testing, not from the launch.
Do you make the ads and the landing pages?
Yes. Our content team writes the search ads, hooks and scripts, and we produce the images, Reels, TikToks and videos sized for every placement, using your real products, team and customers where we can. Our web development team builds the landing pages and forms, with WhatsApp one tap away, and our conversion rate optimization work keeps improving the page after the click, because that page decides what every lead costs.
Who owns the ad accounts, pixels and data?
You do, from day one. We set up the Google Ads account and tag, the Meta Business portfolio and pixel, and the TikTok and LinkedIn accounts in your business’s name, and our team works through manager or partner access that you can remove in one click. Ad spend is paid to each platform from your own card, so every receipt is yours. If we ever stop working together, you keep everything.
Can you run paid advertising for a business outside Nigeria?
Yes. We run Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube paid ads for businesses in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the Netherlands, as well as across Nigeria and Africa, and our diaspora marketing team runs ads for Africans abroad selling back home. Costs, platforms and buying habits differ by country, so we plan each market on its own numbers. Paid ads are remote work, run on the platforms, WhatsApp, email and video calls.
Do you guarantee results from paid advertising?
No, and nobody honest can. Every platform sells ads through an auction, and your market and your offer move. What we do promise is the work, written into the scope: the right platform, honest creative, weekly testing, a fast follow-up routine and a plain report of what every naira, pound or dollar brought. If a campaign is not working, we tell you and change it, as we did at Study With FM.
Is paid advertising better than SEO?
They work best together. Paid advertising brings customers this week and can be switched up or down in a day. SEO takes months to build and then brings customers every month without paying per click. The search terms that convert in your pay per click campaigns tell us which pages to build for SEO, and a page that already ranks makes your ads cheaper. Most of our clients start with paid ads for speed and add SEO for compounding growth.
Can I learn paid advertising myself?
Yes. Our Facebook ads course teaches account setup, creative, targeting, tracking and scaling step by step, and our digital marketing strategies hub shows where paid ads fit in the bigger system. When you would rather have it done for you, that is what our paid advertising services are for.

Before you spend more on ads, find out what is holding them back. Send us your website or your current campaign details. We will review the offer, the targeting, the creative, the page after the click and the follow-up path, then show you the three biggest leaks and the first fixes. A practical recommendation, not a promise of guaranteed leads. Lagos, London, Toronto or Los Angeles, the review is the same, and it is free.
What you get, free: a plain-English review of your existing campaigns, creative and landing page, or of your plan if you have never run ads, with your three biggest leaks and the first fixes, usually within two working days. No obligation, and no honest agency can promise an exact cost per lead before testing.
