01 · The real problem

Why most stores leak sales, and what a $4,500 video taught everyone

A famous ecommerce launch did not win because of its video. It won because buyers came back every month.

A true story from 2012, and a test you can run today

In March 2012, Michael Dubin posted a funny video for his new razor store, Dollar Shave Club. It cost about $4,500 to make.

In the first 48 hours, about 12,000 people signed up. The store ran out of stock within hours. Most brands would call that a win and wait for the next viral moment.

Dubin did something smarter. Every buyer joined a club that sent new blades every month. One video won the first order. The system won every order after it.

Four years later, Unilever bought the company for a price close to $1 billion, CNN reported. The video was the spark. The repeat orders built the business.

Now think about a normal month in your store. You pay for ads. Visitors come. Some add to cart, and most leave at checkout. A few buy once and never hear from you again. Next month, you pay to find new strangers all over again. That is not a marketing problem. It is a leak.

It is a common leak. Across 50 studies, Baymard Institute finds that about 7 in 10 online shopping carts are abandoned. Many were only browsing. But of US shoppers who left for a real reason, 4 in 10 blamed extra costs like delivery, tax and fees.

So try this today. Open your store dashboard and ask one question: of last month’s buyers, how many came back within the time they would normally need you again? Razors run out in weeks. A phone lasts years. If you cannot answer it, you are paying to win customers without knowing what they are worth.

Ecommerce marketing is the Dollar Shave Club move. Win the first order cheaply, make the store easy to buy from, then give every buyer a reason to come back. The rest is detail.

Three leaks that drain online stores

These are the problems we find most often when we audit an online store. Each one has a fix, and each one costs money every day it stays open.

Leak 01

The wrong traffic

Ads aimed at everyone, boosted posts and broad keywords. Lots of visitors, few buyers, and a cost per sale nobody has worked out.

Fix: ecommerce PPC aimed at buyers
Leak 02

A leaky store

Slow pages, weak product photos, surprise delivery fees and a long checkout. Shoppers want to buy, then something stops them.

Fix: product pages and checkout
Leak 03

No second sale

No cart reminders, no thank-you email, no reason to come back. Every customer is bought once and then forgotten.

Fix: email, SMS and WhatsApp flows

Traffic is rented. Repeat buyers are owned. Build the second.

You may already be doing the work. You post new products, run ads, answer DMs late into the night and try another promo when sales slow down. Some weeks the orders pour in. Other weeks, the same budget brings half as much. Before you spend another naira, pound or dollar, ask what happens to the people you already paid to bring in. Do they find the right product, see the full cost early, trust your delivery and get a reason to come back? The free store leak finder further down shows where your money leaks most.

02 · Pricing

Ecommerce marketing pricing: four ways to work with us

Clear ecommerce marketing prices, in writing, before you pay anything. Our fee is separate from your ad budget. Pick your currency, then pick how much of your store’s marketing you want done for you.

Show prices in
Naira prices are a separate Nigerian price list, not a currency conversion, for businesses in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Dollar, pound and euro prices are for businesses outside Africa, including Africans in the diaspora selling back home and businesses coming into Africa. Ad spend, platform plans, apps and creator fees are paid separately and never marked up. Monthly plans run 30 days from your first campaign going live. Extra landing pages, shoots or store builds outside your plan are quoted before the work, never slipped into the bill.

What ecommerce marketing really costs, explained simply

An online store has three marketing costs: the people who run it, the platform and apps it runs on, and the ad spend that brings buyers. Our fee covers the people. The other two are paid by you, in your own accounts.

The platform can be small or large: Shopify Basic is $29 a month billed yearly, plus card fees, and WooCommerce is free, plus hosting. Email can start free on Klaviyo or Shopify Messaging. Ad spend goes straight to Google, Meta or TikTok from your own card. We help you keep the first two low, so more of your money buys customers.

How we count what is in each plan

A price only means something when you know what counts. This is ours, in writing.

Our fee and your costs

Our fee covers strategy, ad management, creatives, emails, copy, store fixes and reporting. Ad spend, platform plans, apps, payment fees, shoots and creator fees are paid separately, from your own accounts. We never mark them up.

The 20% rule

You pay the flat monthly fee until 20% of your monthly ad spend is bigger than it. The percentage replaces the flat fee; it is never added on top. On a ₦6,000,000$10,000£8,000€9,000 budget, Grow Every Week costs ₦1,200,000$2,000£1,600€1,800 that month.

A store fix

One change to your store, like a rewritten product page, a delivery message, a trust badge or a shorter checkout step, made on Shopify or WooCommerce. Redesigns and new stores are quoted first.

An ad creative

One image, carousel or short video ad, with its copy, made from your photos or footage. Shoots and creators are quoted before they happen.

What we report

Revenue, orders, ROAS, cost per new customer, repeat rate and contribution after ad spend first. Clicks and likes are shown, but never used on their own to judge success.

A month

Thirty days from your first campaign going live, not the calendar month. Every creative and email includes two rounds of changes. No long contract: monthly plans stop with 14 days notice. Everything we made stays yours.

Pay in naira, dollars, pounds or euros by card or bank transfer. No long contract: monthly plans stop with 14 days notice. Not sure which plan fits? Use the free store leak finder further down, or message us and we will tell you honestly, even if the answer is the smaller one. Need ecommerce as part of a bigger plan, with SEO and a new website? 03 · How it works

What ecommerce marketing is, and why the second order matters most

Ecommerce marketing is everything that brings shoppers to your online store, gets them to buy and brings them back to buy again. Ecommerce digital marketing covers ads, search, social media, email, SMS, WhatsApp and the store itself. A good ecommerce marketing strategy treats them as one system, not six separate jobs.

Smiling online store owner packing a customer order into a box, with new orders listed on the ecommerce dashboard on her laptop
Every box is a chance to sell the next one. The best ecommerce marketing starts after the first order, not before it.

The ecommerce growth loop: five jobs every store needs

Most stores only pay for the first job. The money is in the other four.

Job 1Attract

Bring shoppers who are ready to buy, with ads, search and social.

Job 2Convert

Product pages, reviews and a checkout that make buying easy.

Job 3Recover

Cart and browse reminders by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

Job 4Retain

Thank-you, refill and win-back messages that bring buyers back.

Job 5Grow

Bundles and upsells that raise the average order, then repeat.

Paid, owned and earned: where ecommerce sales come from

Every store needs all three. Paid is fast, owned is cheap, and earned is the most trusted.

Paid

Shoppers you pay to reach

Google Shopping, Performance Max, Meta, TikTok and YouTube ads. Ecommerce PPC brings sales fast, as long as every naira, pound or dollar is tracked to orders. Run with our Google ads and Meta ads teams.

The fastest
Owned

Shoppers you can reach free

Your store, your email and SMS list, your WhatsApp community and your search rankings. Owned channels sell again and again without paying for every click, which is why our email marketing team builds them early.

The cheapest over time
Earned

Shoppers others send you

Reviews, customer photos, creators, referrals and mentions in AI search. Earned trust is what turns a stranger into a buyer, and our reputation management team helps you earn more of it.

From the research and the platforms themselves, with the sources linked.

2.66%global average ecommerce conversion rate

40%of shoppers who left a checkout for a real reason blamed extra costs

Baymard Institute. Leaving out people who were only browsing, delivery, tax and fees are the top reason US shoppers give, ahead of slow delivery at 20%. Show the full cost early. Source.

18×more revenue per recipient from flows than campaigns

Klaviyo, 2026. Automated flows like abandoned cart and thank-you emails earn nearly 18 times more per person than one-off campaigns. Build the flows first. Source.

Myth check

“We just need more traffic.”

More traffic into a leaking store only makes the leak more expensive. Baymard Institute estimates that the average large ecommerce site could raise its conversion rate by 35.26% through better checkout design alone. Fix the store first. Then pay for traffic.
04 · Where you sell

Jumia, Amazon, Instagram or your own store? Where you sell changes everything

Selling on a marketplace, on Jiji, in your DMs or on your own Shopify or WooCommerce store are different businesses. Each one has its own costs, risks and ecommerce marketing. Start with how you sell, then pick the platform.

First, choose how you sell online

Most growing stores use two or three of these at once. The question is which one makes you money after fees, and which one you own.

Selling more on Jumia, Amazon and Jiji, and keeping the profit

Marketplaces bring shoppers who are already searching. Jumia had 2.6 million active customers in the second quarter of 2026, with Nigerian orders up 34%. The catch: you pay fees on every sale, you compete on the same page as rivals, and the customer belongs to the marketplace. So we win the listing, protect your margin and grow your own brand alongside it, always within each marketplace’s seller rules.

05 · Built for what you sell

Ecommerce marketing for what you sell, not a template

A dress, a phone and a carton of wholesale fabric sell in completely different ways. This is how we change the plan for each, including a wholesale marketplace we grew and a store we run ourselves.

Fashion, beauty and lifestyle

Products people buy with their eyes

Fashion and beauty sell on looks, trust and fit. Shoppers want to see the product on a real person, read honest reviews and know returns are easy before they pay. Our fashion marketing team leads with short videos, customer photos and creators, then turns the best ones into ads.

The second sale matters even more here. A buyer who loved one dress, lipstick or perfume is the easiest person to sell the next one to, with a new-in email, a restock alert or an early-access drop.

B2B and wholesale ecommerce

Buyers who order again and again

Wholesale ecommerce lives on reorders, and a marketplace has to win two customers at once. Buyers with no stock to choose from leave. Sellers with no buyers leave too. Arya Marketplace, a new B2B wholesale marketplace in Lagos, needed both, fast, on a tight budget. We ran Meta ads across footwear, fabrics, bags and perfume, tested and cut every week, and built a WhatsApp community with a daily content timetable.

Cost per lead started at ₦63.48, already 9.5× better than the plan, then fell to ₦41.30 per lead: 474 website leads in five days in July 2026, as counted in Meta Ads Manager. When group outreach brought no sales, we switched to influencers. Read the full case study.

Adobe forecasts that 57.4% of US online holiday spend in 2026 will happen on mobile. If your checkout is hard on a phone, most buyers never finish it.

Adobe expects buy now, pay later to drive $21.3 billion of US online spend in November and December 2026. Offering it on higher-priced products can remove the last reason to wait.

Ecommerce marketing services: how Greenlearners Technologies grows online stores

Greenlearners Technologies is an ecommerce marketing agency that cares about two numbers: what each new customer costs you, and how much they spend with you over time. These six ecommerce marketing services work as one system. You do not have to buy all six. The free audit shows what your store actually needs.

The ecommerce tools behind the work, and whether you need them

Find your biggest leak. Then pick the right Shopify plan.

Two free ecommerce tools, no sign up. The first shows where your store loses the most money, and which fix is worth the most. The second compares Shopify prices for your sales, fees included. Nothing you type is sent to us unless you choose to send it.

Tool one

Store leak finder

Put in your monthly visitors, conversion rate, order value and ad spend. See your orders, revenue, ROAS and contribution, and which of three fixes would add the most. A planning estimate, not a promise.

Pick the currency your numbers are in. Nothing is converted

Out of 100 visitors, how many buy
Revenue divided by orders
Not sure? Leave it at 70
All ad platforms together
What you keep after product and delivery costs
Grow Every Week by default. Put 0 if you do it yourself
A planning estimate, not a forecast or a guarantee. Carts left behind defaults to 70%, close to the 70.22% average Baymard documents across 50 studies, and lost carts are estimated from your orders. Not every lost cart is a lost sale: many shoppers are only browsing. Contribution is revenue times margin, minus ad spend and our fee. It is not total profit: payment fees, returns, apps, salaries and other overheads are not included.
Orders a month300
Revenue a month$18,000
Return on ad spend (ROAS)6×
Break-even ROAS at your margin2.22×
Carts left behind a month700
Contribution after ads and our fee$3,600
Your store turns 20,000 visitors into about 300 orders, worth $18,000. That is a 6× ROAS, above the 2.22× you need to break even at a 45% margin. After $3,000 in ads and a $1,500 fee, that leaves about $3,600 a month. Your conversion rate is below the 2.66% global average. Largest modelled opportunity: raise conversion by half a point, worth about $6,000 more revenue a month.
Three fixes, modelled extra revenue a month
Recover 1 in 10 lost carts$4,200cart emails, SMS or WhatsApp+$1,890 contribution
Conversion up half a point$6,000from 1.5% to 2%+$2,700 contribution
Average order up 10%$1,800bundles and upsells+$810 contribution

The highlighted fix is the largest modelled opportunity, not a diagnosis. The fixes overlap, so do not add them together. None of the three needs a bigger ad budget.

Tool two

Shopify plan cost picker

Shopify plans and pricing look simple, but card fees and per-order charges often cost more than the plan itself. Put in your sales and see which Shopify plan is really cheapest for you, fees included.

Card sales through your store
Each order adds a fixed fee
Plan prices and standard online card rates from Shopify’s US pricing and UK pricing pages, checked in October 2026. Premium and international cards cost more. With another provider, Shopify adds its own transaction fee, shown here, and your provider charges its own fees on top. Shopify Payments is not available in every country, including Nigeria. Plus, from $2,300 a month, is left out. This compares fees only: features, staff accounts or selling abroad can make a bigger plan worth it, so compare plan features too.
Basic · $29 plan + $670 in fees$699
Grow · $79 plan + $630 in fees$709
Advanced · $299 plan + $590 in fees$889
On US yearly billing, at $20,000 a month in sales, Basic is your cheapest Shopify plan, at about $699 a month in plan and payment fees. That is 3.5% of your sales. Grow beats Basic once your card sales pass about $25,000 a month.

Want to learn it yourself? The Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce certificate on Coursera is an 8-course beginner series, priced at $49 a month in the US after a 7-day free trial. Our own digital marketing course teaches the same skills with Nigerian and UK examples, with deeper Facebook ads and email marketing courses, and our digital marketing strategies hub shows where ecommerce fits in the bigger picture.

08 · Honest and yours

Ecommerce marketing you can trust, on a store you own

Fake reviews, fake discounts and hidden fees can win a sale today and cost you the business tomorrow. Regulators in the US and the UK now fine them. This is how we keep your ecommerce marketing honest, safe and yours.

What damages online stores

Fake or bought reviews, including AI-written ones
Fake “was” prices and countdown timers that never end
Delivery fees and charges hidden until the last step
Paid creator posts not labelled as ads
Shipping high-risk orders without a fraud check
Emailing or texting people who never agreed to it

The FTC’s rule on fake reviews allows civil penalties in the US. In the UK, fake reviews have been banned under the DMCC Act since 6 April 2025, and the CMA’s guidance explains what stores must do.

How we keep it right

Real reviews only, asked for after delivery, good or bad
Real sales with real end dates, and prices you actually charged before
Total cost shown early, delivery included
Paid posts labelled as ads, every time
Fraud checks on, with Shopify fraud analysis or your payment provider’s tools
Consent recorded for every email, SMS and WhatsApp list

Shopify’s fraud analysis flags risky orders before you ship them. Fraud indicators are on every plan from Basic, and risk recommendations need Grow or Shopify Payments.

Your store. Your ad accounts. Your customer list.

Your Shopify or WooCommerce store, your Google and Meta ad accounts, your email platform and your customer data stay in your name, with our team added as users you can remove. Everything we create is yours once it is paid for. If we ever stop working together, you keep it all. Whoever you hire, insist on this.

09 · Results

Honest limits

What ecommerce marketing cannot do, and who should not hire us

Good ecommerce marketing is powerful. It is not magic. You deserve to hear the limits before you spend a single naira, pound or dollar.

Ecommerce marketing cannot

Sell a product people do not want
Fix a margin too thin to pay for ads
Make up for late or lost deliveries
Beat a much cheaper price on the same product
Go viral on demand
Promise an exact ROAS or number of sales

Some stores need the store fixed first. Our web development team builds fast WooCommerce stores, and our sales funnel team builds the pages that sell one product hard.

We are probably not right for you if

You want fake reviews or fake discounts
You will not share sales or margin numbers
You want likes more than sales
You cannot deliver the orders ads bring
You need profit from ads by next week
You want to judge it on one month

If you want to learn it yourself first, start with our digital marketing course.

Questions people ask

Ecommerce marketing: your questions, answered

What is ecommerce marketing?

Ecommerce marketing is everything that brings shoppers to your online store, gets them to buy and brings them back to buy again. It covers ads, search, social media, email, SMS, WhatsApp and the store itself: product pages, delivery messages and checkout. Good ecommerce digital marketing treats all of these as one system. The goal is not more visitors. It is more profitable orders, and more customers who order again.

What does an ecommerce marketing agency do?

An ecommerce marketing agency plans and runs the marketing that sells your products online, then measures what each channel sold. That usually means ecommerce PPC on Google and Meta, email and SMS flows, product page and checkout fixes, SEO, creator content and reporting. The best ecommerce marketing agencies judge their work on revenue, repeat orders and contribution after ad spend, not on clicks or likes. At Greenlearners Technologies, our ecommerce marketing services start with a free store audit, so we fix the biggest leak before spending more on ads.

How much do your ecommerce marketing services cost?

We have four plans. Launch Right is a one-off 750,000 naira, 1,000 dollars, 800 pounds or 900 euros for your store audit, tracking, cart flows, top store fixes and first campaign. Grow Every Week is 900,000 naira, 1,500 dollars, 1,200 pounds or 1,350 euros a month for Google and Meta ads, email and a store test every month. Run It For Me is 1,800,000 naira, 3,000 dollars, 2,400 pounds or 2,700 euros a month for every channel, done for you. Own Your Market is 4,000,000 naira, 7,000 dollars, 5,600 pounds or 6,300 euros a month for a dedicated team. On monthly plans you pay the flat fee or 20% of ad spend, whichever is greater, never both. Ad spend, apps and creator fees are paid separately. See our growth plans and pricing for bigger plans.

What is a good ecommerce marketing strategy?

A good ecommerce marketing strategy fixes the store before it buys more traffic. First, track every sale correctly. Second, fix the biggest leak, which is often surprise delivery costs or a long checkout. Third, switch on abandoned cart, welcome and thank-you flows. Fourth, run ads aimed at people ready to buy, judged on real orders. Fifth, give every buyer a reason to come back. Most stores do the fourth step first and wonder why it is expensive.

What is ecommerce PPC?

Ecommerce PPC is pay-per-click advertising for online stores: Google Shopping, Performance Max, Search, Meta, TikTok and YouTube ads that send shoppers to your products. It works best with a clean product feed in Google Merchant Center, tracking that counts real purchases and a store that converts. We judge ecommerce PPC on revenue and contribution after ad spend, never on clicks alone. Our Google ads and Meta ads teams run it.

What is Shopify marketing, and do you do Shopify advertising?

Shopify marketing is everything that sells more from a Shopify store: Shopify advertising on Google and Meta, Shopify email marketing, SEO for product and collection pages, reviews, creators and checkout improvements. Yes, we run Shopify advertising, from the product feed and tracking to the ads themselves. Shopify makes it easy to open a store. It does not bring buyers on its own, and that is the part we do.

How much does Shopify cost? What are Shopify’s plans and pricing?

On Shopify’s US pricing page in October 2026, Basic is 29 dollars a month billed yearly or 39 dollars monthly, Grow is 79 or 105 dollars, Advanced is 299 or 399 dollars, and Plus starts at 2,300 dollars a month. In the UK, Basic is 19 pounds billed yearly or 25 pounds monthly, Grow is 49 or 65 pounds, and Advanced is 259 or 344 pounds. Card fees are extra: online card sales start at 2.9% plus 30 cents on Basic in the US. Shopify offers 3 days free, then 1 dollar a month for 3 months on most plans. The Starter plan is no longer available to new stores. Check the Shopify pricing page before you buy, because prices change.

Which Shopify plan should I choose?

Choose on total cost, not the monthly price. Higher plans have lower card rates, so they get cheaper as your sales grow. In the US on yearly billing, Grow beats Basic once your card sales pass about 25,000 dollars a month, and Advanced beats Grow at about 110,000 dollars a month. If you use another payment provider, Shopify adds its own fee, and the switch to Grow comes much sooner. Fees are not the only factor: staff accounts, features and selling abroad can make a bigger plan worth it. Our free Shopify plan cost picker on this page works out the fees for your numbers.

Is Shopify email marketing enough, or do I need Klaviyo?

Shopify Messaging, formerly Shopify Email, gives you 10,000 free emails a month, then charges 1 dollar per 1,000, and abandoned checkout emails are free. For many small stores, that is enough to start. Klaviyo for Shopify becomes worth it when you want more detailed segments, more flows, SMS and better reporting by customer. Klaviyo has a free plan for 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month. We set up whichever fits your store, and our email marketing team runs it.

How do I do WooCommerce email marketing?

Connect your WooCommerce store to an email platform, so every order, customer and abandoned cart starts a message. The two most common options are Klaviyo, which has an official WooCommerce integration, and the free Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin, which syncs customers, orders and carts to Mailchimp. Then build the flows that sell: welcome, abandoned cart, thank-you, review request and win-back. The plugin is free, but the email platform’s plan is priced separately.

Shopify or WooCommerce: which is better?

Shopify is better if you only sell products and want hosting, checkout and security in one monthly bill. WooCommerce is better if you want to own everything, sell alongside content, courses or bookings, or keep monthly fees low, because the plugin is free and runs on WordPress. Shopify costs more each month but needs less looking after. WooCommerce costs less but needs updates, speed work and security. We grow stores on both, and our web development team builds WooCommerce stores.

What is the best website to sell products?

The best website to sell products depends on what you sell and where. For most product stores in the US and the UK, Shopify or WooCommerce. For large B2B catalogues, Adobe Commerce. For local shops starting free, Square Online. For artists with a few products, Big Cartel. For selling from Instagram and WhatsApp in Nigeria, Ghana or South Africa, Paystack Storefront. The comparison table on this page shows prices and what to watch for with each.

Should I sell on Jumia, Amazon, Jiji or my own website?

It depends on what you sell and how much control you want. Marketplaces like Jumia and Amazon bring shoppers who are already searching, but you pay fees on every sale, compete with other sellers on the same page and do not own the customer. Jiji suits one-off and local sales, where fast replies and honest listings win. Your own Shopify or WooCommerce store gives you the brand, the customer list and the data, but you must bring every visitor. Most growing stores use two routes at once: a marketplace for reach, and their own store and WhatsApp for repeat buyers. The selling route table on this page compares them.

Can you help us sell more on Jumia or Amazon?

Yes. Marketplace marketing starts with profit, not sales: we check what each product really earns after commission, delivery, discounts and returns. Then we improve your listings with clear titles, real photos and full details, run marketplace ads on the products that still profit, such as Amazon Sponsored Products, and ask buyers for honest reviews. We always work within each marketplace’s seller rules, and we grow your own brand alongside it.

Are there free websites to sell products?

Yes, with limits. Square Online has a free plan at 0 dollars a month, with 3.3% plus 30 cents per online card sale. Big Cartel is free for up to 5 products. Paystack Storefront is free to set up in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, and you pay only payment fees. WooCommerce is a free plugin, but you still pay for hosting and a domain. Free is a good way to start. Once sales grow, the fees and limits usually make a paid plan cheaper.

What is Shopify fraud analysis?

Shopify fraud analysis checks online orders for signs of fraud, like a billing address that does not match the card, and flags risky orders so you can review them before you ship. Fraud indicators are available from the Basic plan, and risk recommendations need the Grow plan or Shopify Payments. In the US, Shopify Protect can also cover fraud chargebacks on eligible Shop Pay orders. We check fraud settings before ads bring volume, because more orders also means more fraudsters.

Do you work with Magento 2 B2B and Adobe Commerce?

Yes. Adobe Commerce, built on Magento 2, has B2B features for wholesale buyers: company accounts, shared catalogues with custom prices, quotes, purchase orders and requisition lists. We market these stores with search, LinkedIn and email built around reorders and account growth, not one-off sales. If you need the store itself built or changed, we work with your developers. See our B2B marketing page for the wider plan.

Does HubSpot work for ecommerce?

HubSpot works for ecommerce when your sales team already uses it. Its Shopify Data Sync connects customers, orders, products and carts to the HubSpot CRM on every HubSpot plan, and Revenue Hub, which replaced Commerce Hub, handles quotes, invoices and payments. For a pure online store, Klaviyo or Shopify Messaging is usually simpler and cheaper. For B2B stores with sales reps, HubSpot ecommerce can make sense.

How do I reduce abandoned carts?

Baymard Institute documents an average cart abandonment rate of 70.22%. Many of those shoppers were only browsing. But among US shoppers who left a checkout for a real reason, 40% blamed extra costs like delivery, tax and fees, 20% blamed slow delivery and 19% did not trust the site with their card details. So show delivery costs early, offer the payment options your buyers expect, keep the checkout short, allow guest checkout and show trust signals near the price. Then send a three-message abandoned cart flow by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

What is a good ecommerce conversion rate?

Dynamic Yield’s benchmark, quoted by Shopify, puts the global average ecommerce conversion rate at 2.66%. It varies by product, price and device, so compare your store with itself first. A store selling cheap, everyday products should convert better than one selling expensive furniture. If you are well below the average, fix product pages and checkout before buying more traffic. Our free store leak finder on this page shows what half a point more is worth to you.

What is a good ROAS for an online store?

A good ROAS is one that leaves profit after product costs, delivery and fees. Your break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your gross margin: at a 40% margin, you need 2.5 times your ad spend in revenue just to break even. So a 3 times ROAS can be great for one store and a loss for another. ROAS is revenue divided by ad spend, not profit, which is why we report it next to your margin and contribution.

How long does ecommerce marketing take to work?

Fixes like cart flows, tracking and checkout changes can show results within weeks. Ads usually need four to eight weeks of testing to find the products, audiences and creatives that sell profitably. SEO and content take three to six months to build. Repeat buyers build over months, as each customer orders again. That is why we report every month and never ask you to judge it on one month.

What is trending in ecommerce going into 2027?

Three trends stand out. AI shopping: Shopify says AI-driven traffic to its stores grew 8 times in a year, and orders from AI-powered searches nearly 13 times. Mobile: Adobe forecasts that 57.4% of US online holiday spend in 2026 will happen on phones. And flexible payments: Adobe expects buy now, pay later to drive 21.3 billion dollars of US online spend in November and December 2026. Clear product data, a mobile-first checkout and the right payment options matter more than ever.

Should I hire an ecommerce marketing consultant or an agency?

An ecommerce marketing consultant gives you a plan and advice, and your team does the work. An agency plans and does the work. If you have an in-house team that needs direction, a consultant can be enough. If you need the ads, emails, store fixes and reporting done for you, an agency is usually better value. Our Launch Right plan works like a consultant’s audit and setup in one, and the monthly plans do the work for you.

Do you work with stores in Nigeria, the UK and the USA?

Yes. We work with online stores in Nigeria and across Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the Netherlands. In Nigeria, many stores sell through Instagram, WhatsApp and payment links like Paystack, so we build around that, with click-to-chat ads and WhatsApp communities. In the UK and the USA, most stores run on Shopify or WooCommerce, with Google Shopping, Meta and email. If you sell across borders, from the diaspora back home or from Nigeria to the world, our diaspora marketing team plans for currency, delivery and returns. Naira prices are a separate Nigerian price list.

What results have you delivered for ecommerce businesses?

For Arya Marketplace, a B2B wholesale marketplace in Lagos, we delivered 7.17 times ROAS on Meta ads, 474 website leads in five days at 41.30 naira per lead, and a WhatsApp community of more than 1,000 buyers. We also run Greenlearners Gadgets, our own WooCommerce store, where we test methods on our own money first. Across qualifying paid campaigns, our average ROAS is 6 to 8 times. See the full stories in our case studies.

Is the Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce certificate on Coursera worth it?

The Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Professional Certificate on Coursera is an 8-course beginner series, suggested at about six months with 10 hours a week. In the US it costs 49 dollars a month after a 7-day free trial, and financial aid is available. It is a solid introduction to digital marketing and ecommerce for beginners. If you want to learn with Nigerian and UK examples and a tutor, see our digital marketing course.

Who owns the store, the ad accounts and the customer list?

You do. Your Shopify or WooCommerce store, your Google and Meta ad accounts, your email platform and your customer data stay in your name, with our team added as users you can remove. Everything we create is yours once it is paid for. If we stop working together, you keep it all.

Do you guarantee sales or ROAS?

No, and be careful of anyone who does. Ad auctions, seasons, stock and prices change every week. What we do guarantee is the work listed in your plan, honest reporting, and testing every week so more of your money goes to what sells. We tell you plainly which numbers are measured and which are estimates.

How do I get started?

Message us on WhatsApp for a free store audit. Send your store link, your platform and roughly what you sell each month. Within about two working days, you get a written review of your store, checkout, ads, emails and tracking, with the three fixes worth the most money, in order. You can make them yourself, or ask us to.

Statistics come from the sources named and linked beside each figure, with their dates. Client results are real outcomes for our clients over the periods shown, taken from their own dashboards. They are not a prediction for any other business. The store leak finder and Shopify plan cost picker are free self-checks for illustration only, not financial advice. Nothing you type into them is sent to us unless you choose to send it. The Dollar Shave Club story is drawn from the press reports linked beside it. Nothing on this page is legal advice.
